Adults in Hertfordshire and London

I provide psychodynamic psychotherapy for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, burnout and life transitions. About
How I work

If your search has led you to my website, you might be already facing anxiety that keeps creeping back in, relationship struggles that repeat in unexpected ways and in various settings in your life (such as work, friendships and intimate relationships). You might be feeling low in mood or depressed, burnout, feeling stuck despite your success, or noticing how early childhood experiences or trauma is impacting your current life. Psychodynamic psychotherapy provides a space to explore the often recurring patterns, helping you make sense of your experiences and understand how the past may still be influencing the present.

I am a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, Consultant Clinical Social Worker and a Senior lecturer and over the past twenty years I have worked extensively within specialist services with adolescents and adults who experience wide range of difficulties. Psychotherapy allows us together to become curious about the emotional patterns that continue to shape your relationships, choices and sense of self. I believe that through therapy we can increase self awareness which opens up new possibilities—allowing you to respond differently, feel less constrained by old patterns, and make choices that feel more genuinely your own.

Alongside my clinical work in Private Practice, I am also a senior lecturer, supervisor and consultant at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust

Starting Therapy

Once you email me with a brief message to let me know a bit about what you are looking for, I will email you back with a suggested time to speak over the phone. This short conversation will give us some time to understand what brings you to therapy and for me to explain a bit about how I work. I can answer any practical questions you might have. If appropriate, we will then book in an Initial Consultation. This consultation is often 1.15 minutes long and gives us an opportunity to meet and discuss your current situation. I might suggest a few consultations if necessary. It will give you a sense of how I work and how it might feel like starting therapy. If we agree this is for you, we will discuss starting weekly therapy. I offer between once to twice weekly psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Experience

I have worked in the past 20 years in various settings including the private sector, Local Authorities and the NHS. I have substantial experience of undertaking complex assessments, as well as treatment, working with adults and young people. Alongside my clinical work I design, write and deliver bespoke training to various professionals and organisations across the country. Over the years I have offered parent consultations, consultations to staff and organisations and supervision.
